Raised by Christian Science parents, Marceil DeLacy’s lifelong guides have been the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. These books have nurtured in her a strong commitment to helping others.
This has led to worldwide opportunities for volunteer work and to a career as a practitioner and teacher of Christian Science. She is a dynamic speaker who has given numerous talks in a variety of venues. As a member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship,
DeLacy travels from her home base in Seattle, Washington.

About Christian Science

Christian Science is based upon the healing truth Christ Jesus preached and practiced.

Over a century ago, Mary Baker Eddy experienced a remarkable physical healing while reading an account of one of Jesus' healing works in the Bible. Afterward, she continued to study the Bible diligently, in order to understand how her healing was accomplished, and rediscovered the healing mission of Jesus' ministry. She named her discovery Christian Science, and established the Mother Church The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston Massachusetts.

This Society is a branch of that church, and is a part of its world-wide movement. Christian Science Churches and Societies, like this one in Truckee, have been established around the world to practice the Science of Christianity as taught by Christ Jesus.

You are warmly invited to attend our Sunday Service, which begins At 10:00 A.M. It consists mainly of a sermon read from the King James Version of the Bible and our textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. In 1895 Mrs. Eddy ordained these books as the only pastor of the Church of Christ, Scientist.

Our Wednesday Testimony Meeting is conducted at 7:30 p.m. It includes readings from the Bible and Science & Health and a period to share testimonies of healing or remarks on Christian Science.

Sunday School is conducted at 10:00 a.m. and is open to young people up to the age of 20. Students are taught the Ten Commandments, the Lords Prayer, the Beatitudes, and other concepts outlined in the weekly Bible Lesson and how they can be applied in every day living.

The staff in our Children's Room lovingly cares for the littlest ones to young children.

A Short History:

An informal group of persons interested in Christian Science began meeting in various homes in Truckee in 1940. This early group led to what is now the Christian Science Society of Truckee.

In 1952 the services were moved into the Wyethia Women’s Club in Truckee to house the larger number of regular attendees and visitors. The first lecture on Christian Science was held by this group in 1953 at the Donner Theater.

This group also purchased a lot in downtown Truckee on Commercial Row for the purpose of building an edifice for services. Two years later, in 1965 this property was sold and the current location on Donner Pass Road was purchased. During 1965 also, this informal group received recognition from the Department of Branches and Practitioners of The First Church of Christ Scientist, Boston Massachusetts as the Christian Science Society, Truckee California.

We continue to hold services and hope that when in Truckee you will join us for Sunday services and Sunday school, as well as our inspirational meetings on Wednesday evenings.
